Well, I’m glad that weekend is over! It started with promise but unfortunately ended in recrimination. The reason? My mother came to stay. I’m not going to go into detail here as it would bore you all to death but, suffice to say, she wasn’t best pleased with my standing up to her nastiness and so stropped off home a day early. whilst I hate to say this, I was relieved. Society tells us that we should love and respect our parents and I do, to a point, but where is the bit that says that they can say anything (however hurtful and awful that might be) and behave exactly as they please (with no regard to others feelings)? Should I have held my tongue, said nothing and put it down to her age / life choices / generation, whatever? Maybe. But I didn’t and do you know what? I felt much better for having stood up to her. Did she apologise? No, of course she didn’t. But there you go.
Anyway in the midst of all that Spring seems to have sprung and I picked stole these from the ACL’s garden (she had thousands) whilst I was chicken sitting at the weekend
The snowdrops are so delicate and go beautifully with the pale green of the Helleborus. I also have one of these on my sitting room windowsill
(I really must clean those windows!)
TG thinks I’m really clever because I grew it…I don’t like to disillusion him but all I did was open the packet and water the preplanted bulb…oh well what he doesn’t know etc etc!
And finally my favourite flower of all – the Daisy. Growing fast and a joy to behold.
(She has a definite look of her mother about her!)
You can’t beat flowers to brighten your day and on the basis of that I’m going to purchase something bright and cheerful on the way home for the table. On a different note, wowthankyou is being launched on Friday so fingers crossed that it’s a fantastic success and we all become millionaires…I could afford armfuls of lilies then!
P.S. I have just cleaned the kitchen windows. This is either Spring fever or I am seriously ill…
