Now before you panic Dear Reader I am not up the duff. Nor are there any buns in my oven. We do however have an addition to the family who arrived on Friday and we will have (everything crossed) one who will, I am told, be arriving in January and will be making me a grandparent for the second time. The Other Child and her husband have decided that the Smallest Baby Girl needs some sibling company and so the happy event is due in January. I now feel 101 and wonder how they can have been so thoughtless towards me…
In the meantime, the latest addition turned up on Friday. Now, for those of you who don’t know me, I am not a frivolous sort. But I have given in to a little frivolity and bought myself a treat. And here she is
She was made by my cyber friend Abby and she is just lovely. Abby is one of those maddeningly clever people of whom I am in awe, she has great skill, a wonderful eye for putting all the fabrics in the right place (truth be told I’m a bit jealous too) and her bears fly off the screen almost as soon as she has made them. She makes bespoke bears from baby clothes, wedding dresses and keepsake bears for the bereaved and they are just brilliant. My bear is a mini Bubs and made from vintage forties glazed cotton and she is called Rose. She will reside in my sewing room / blogging space / potting shed / spare room with some other older bears. And here they all are
They are from left to right, my very first bear from when I was born. As I was born at Christmas, all the babies were given bears as a present and mine is still around albeit a little shabby and full of holes. Next is a bear I got for my 21st birthday and last is one I had about 23 years ago from a random boyfriend for a birthday. I have told the boys that as there is now a lady in their midst after all these years that they’ll have to behave and that I won’t be putting up with any shenanigans… They assure me that they will. Hmm, we’ll have to see!
