Before you fret yourself into a decline Dear Reader I haven’t had a baby. There would have to be a large element of stupidity miracle for that to happen and quite honestly I haven’t got the patience anymore. But we do have a new addition in the form of a slightly displaced, nocturnal cat.
Now, you may be wondering why this photo is so dark. Well the reason is that Rainbow has spent most of her time with us so far under our bed, under the stairs, under the armchair, under the cooker – in fact under just about anything she can fit under. The very lovely Mrs Mutterer and her equally lovely daughters trekked all the way from Somerset to the sunny Isle and brought her to us. Rainbow wasn’t thrilled and was less than impressed with being uprooted from her home and transported to God knows where and has staged a sort of ‘under things’ protest. But last night she did venture out (albeit at 4 in the morning) and spread her affections between me and TG who was sleeping in The Child’s room (due to a curry and too much beer – less said about that the better) and she seems to be settling down. The only problem is that she is very scared of traffic and as we live by a busy road it may take her some time to venture out – and I foresee this being during the night when the road is quiet and she feels more safe and secure.
It was lovely to meet the Mutterers and we had a lovely afternoon on the beach with the smallest Mutterer at one point lying in the sea fully clothed. She is (by her own admission) bonkers and pulls some of the best faces I’ve seen in a long time. Despite the long journey and the fact that they didn’t know me from Adam, the girls were chatty, funny and a real credit to their Mum. Mrs M and I chatted about everything and nothing and it was as though we had known each other for years. We have corresponded for ages on line and if I get nothing else from blogging, I have made a friend and that is fantastic. I’m hoping that they’ll come and see us again (and visit Rainbow).
So. A cat that ‘talks’, demands cuddles at 4 in the morning and feeding as and when. It’s like having babies all over again just without the nappies and it’s great. Now where did I put that under eye bag cream…..
