It is, Dear Reader, Cowes Week here on the sunny Isle. Now, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the terminology, this is a week where the great and good (and the not so great and not so good) of sailing descend upon us for racing, drinking and general larks. It is one of the most important weeks in the Island calendar for making money and many businesses make more in this one week than in all the other weeks of the year put together. For those of us who live here it’s a combination of hard work and equally hard partying as there is free entertainment in the marina and diets are written off in favour of hard liquor and street vendor food.
So last night we kicked the week off in style with trip up the river on the water taxi and saw a brilliant band called ‘Oomph’ with Mr & Mrs Folly who are our Cowes Week partners in crime. They’ve got some other friends who have just arrived here from Yorkshire and who are staying for the week so it could be carnage…Luckily we go on holiday on Saturday so I’ll have plenty of time to recover! In the meantime, a few pictures I took last night (before the rose took its toll) and below the result of today’s weigh in…
Well, you have to let your hair down every now and again don’t you!
