Well, Dear Reader, what a social whirl that weekend was.
The Smallest Baby Girl came for a sleepover on Friday night and Mr and Mrs Folly came round for a Chinese and far too much wine….
The SBG loved Pop’s special Hedgerow Jelly on Saturday morning
TG picked all the berries himself and made 19 jars…enough to last a siege.
Saturday was retail therapy day because I felt the need to spend money I haven’t got need things for my new job and then in the evening we ventured out in the monsoons to the theatre to see some friends in John Godber’s ‘Teechers’. They were fantastic and in usual Godber style it was three people playing all the parts and doing some interesting gender crossover to boot! The rain was unbelievable and at one point you could see that the roof of the theatre was leaking quite substantially over a portion of the audience. Ah, amateur theatre…!
On Sunday evening the ACL cooked us a mega roast and we talked about everything and nothing whilst sampling Harley Man’s collection of home made wines and liquers. I have to say that some of it tastes like petrol to me…but maybe I am no judge. Anyway the boys seemed to enjoy the quaffing and comparison, there was much liquor taken and we were all stuffed to the gunnels by the end of the evening. The ACL (being foreign as she is) has no concept of portion sizes and my stomach is still protesting this morning! It was the perfect way to round off a very sociable weekend. (I am now on a diet and no alcohol programme to try to lose the unattractive muffin top that seems to have sprung over my jeans overnight).
The are truly beautiful in their velvety loveliness and are giving us lots of pleasure on the bedroom windowsill.
And what of this week? Well, after the rollercoaster of the last couple of weeks, I’m hoping for a quiet one. But you just never know, do you?
