So, Dear Reader, the end of another year. I could ramble on about the past 12 months but instead I thought that I’d look forwards instead of back.
We have some trials ahead but nothing that we can’t deal with – TG will be away for five months from the 2nd January and whilst this will be very tough, we’ve done it many times before and come out the other side. The Other Child will sit his final A level exams in the Summer and then this period of his education will be done and dusted. I think that when he is ready he will go on to great things but in the meantime I will be there to soak up exam trauma and give hugs and encouragement.
We also have much to look forward to, not least a new baby (and second grandchild for me – what IS she thinking?!) who is due around January 16th. The Smallest Baby Girl continues to be a great joy in our lives and I’m sure that the boy version who is due will give us just as much pleasure. I thoroughly enjoy being a grandparent (not just because you get to give them back when they get cranky) in ways that I had never imagined and bizarrely I feel younger when I am with the SBG rather than older.
There are also thespian pursuits to look forward to , not least The Vagina Monologues which we are performing for women’s charities in March and which I have wanted to participate in forever and there is talk of other shows later on in the year. There are people to see, friends to reconnect with and places to go.
2010 has had its ups and downs. Some of us have learned hard lessons and I have had one experience I hope never to have to repeat which will stay with me forever. But there has also been much fun, love and laughter. We have partied with friends and family, had a wonderful and mad Summer – a most eccentric Christmas day in a tent (more of that another time) and have tonight with our friends to look forward to.
So, have a very Happy New Year Dear Reader. I wish you all the best of health, wealth and happiness. I shall drink a small toast to you all tonight and we can start afresh tomorrow.
