Well goodness gracious me, Dear Reader, what a few days it has been. I have felt as though (as my Nan used to say) I’ve been so busy that I might meet myself on the way back!
Apart from the usual mayhem that is my normal working week these days, there were a few other things tossed into the mix for good measure. To begin with it was Mr & Mrs Folly’s son’s birthday – his 18th to be exact and last year I made him, at his request, a quilt. I also said foolishly that if he gave me the quilt back each year before his birthday I would add another round to it. And blow me down if the little bugger darling didn’t do just that. So there I was feverishly slaving over a hot sewing machine until the wee hours of Tuesday and Wednesday nights (because naturally I had left it till the 11th hour). Anyway he loved it, which was handy – and we all had far too much to drink on Thursday night celebrating.
Friday night saw the first rehearsal of sorts for The Vagina Monologues (henceforth called Vag Mons to stop you choking on your muesli every time I utter such rudeness). I am so looking forward to doing this, not least because it will be a one off in aid of V Day (stopping violence against women). I have got two fantastic ones to do – one involving an awful lot of moaning which I hope to be able to do justice to (no heckling from the back please) and another involving a posh woman who thinks she has lost a part of her lady bits whilst swimming. I can’t say anymore than that otherwise you might be too shocked! My good friends Mrs G and Mr S are in charge of proceedings and it should be a blast. Will keep you posted.
The weekend has been taken up with preparing for and dishing up a buffet for 75 for Mrs Folly’s trampolining lot and The ACL and I were up at the crack of sparrow buttering bread for what seemed like a million sandwiches. I had spent most of yesterday shopping and cooking so suffice to say that I am sick of the sight of food!! I am resolved that next weekend will be one of gardening (weather permitting) and using my new toy – a fabulous new camera that TG bought me for Christmas.
So far I’ve learned to turn it on and have taken some OK pictures of the Newest Baby Boy, but it’s got so many buttons and programmes that, to be honest., I’m a bit mystified. The best thing of all about it is that I can now take pictures in the dark – and I took a couple the other night when we had a fabulous full moon.
You’ll be delighted to hear that I’ve cleaned the window since…!
So that’s about it, except to say, that it’s been really nice recently to hear that folks have been enjoying this drivel. Quite the most unexpected people have commented to me personally and I am very chuffed. I can’t see who reads this you know – so all you lurkers out there, make yourselves known. You know who you are!!
*For the observant amongst you, yes I have fallen off the hair shirt wagon. Only a couple of times mind you. So I’m not too disappointed with myself all things considered.
Loved the “catch up” post but am now speechless at that adorable last picture. Simply adorable!
He is SUCH a cuddle – although I’m still dealing with being a grandmother at 44!!!
