After my somewhat depressing ranty last post, I thought that I’d better cheer up a bit. But, Dear Reader, the thing is life is not always perfect and crap things happen. For any of you out there who know me in ‘real life’ , you’ll know I’ve had my fair share of rubbish come my way – but hey – nobody really wants to hear about it do they and so normal service is now resumed.
It’s Summer. No really, it is despite what seems to be outside the window on a daily basis. The sunshine seems to come in fits and starts and I’ve been caught out and got soaked more than once. However, at the weekend we were determined not to be thwarted by anything elemental as we had the small people staying on Saturday night and all day Sunday. And so we went to the zoo….
The Smallest Baby Girl had a good time (but wasn’t keen on photo opportunities and kept running off every time a camera was pointed in her direction)
Luckily her brother is less mobile and can’t escape the camera (he loves his Nanny don’t you think?)
The IOW Zoo is famous for its rescued big cats and there were a plethora of lazy sleeping lions and tigers to look at. There were the most beautiful jaguars too and had I had a handbag big enough I might just have snaffled one to keep my feet warm at the end of the bed on chilly nights. The SBG has the attention span of a gnat so we whizzed round in double quick time and then went round again without her realising! Secretly I think that TG and I enjoyed it more than she did…
The only tiger that wasn’t completely behind bars was this one and he willing posed for a zoo photo opportunity
I know that to many zoos are cruel but when you read the stories of some of these animals and the sort of circumstances of awfulness they had come from – well it seems like not a bad alternative.
Back home in the garden, everything has gone a bit berserk what will all the rain and then some sunshine. The lavender is magnificent and a complete bee haven
There are daisies everywhere
And just had to show you these fabulous lilies – they look red in the photo but were in fact almost a chocolate brown. Very unusual and stunning.
And so that’s about it Dear Reader. A few small snapshots to brighten your day. And gladden your heart.
