Let me reintroduce you to this Dear Reader
It is what is known in polite society as a ‘blue sky’ and something these days that if you blink you might just miss…
I remember fondly those Winters which were properly cold and frosty. None of the torrential and biblical quantities of rain that we’ve had. That came in with March and its breezes loud and shrill which, as the rhyme goes, stir the dancing daffodil. Winter was a time for gloves and scarves, runny noses and vast quantities of gravy on any given occasion. I don’t know about you, but I’m totally fed up with sloshing about, frizzy hair and the smell of damp that pervades.
But there was on Saturday last a day to get out and about, to have a long walk and to breathe in some country air.
I walked from the Other Child’s house where we had been celebrating the Small Boy’s third birthday not just to walk off the sausage rolls but to get a breath of fresh air. She pressed a piece of cake upon me in case I should get lost in the woods and might need to leave a trail of crumbs a la Hansel and Gretel but I managed to make it home unscathed and with the cake intact much to the delight of TG who had already scoffed his share….
It’s only three miles door to door but it was really lovely to be out and about. There were others too enjoying the sunshine..
All in all a lovely day.
And the best part of all? My favourite boy in the world (small boy that is) is three. And what a joy he is. I don’t think I’ve ever had more kisses from a little person.
Happy birthday Dylan!
*In case you were wondering he has Woody from Toy Story on his shoulders. Current favourite film!
As I write now it’s raining again. Yes really. *Sigh*. FFS!
