There are times Dear Reader when one needs to put the world away. Just for a bit. Life has been, to put it mildly, a touch manic. There has been a show over 5 performances which took up most of the last two weeks, folks in the holiday let needing tidying up after, work and all manner of other things to be dealt with and organise. Poor old TG had a birthday in the midst of the chaos which was largely ignored and so to make it up to him we took ourselves off to Seaview (not 20 minutes down the road) for a little staycation and to recharge the batteries a bit.
Seaview is a lovely spot especially at this time of year when it’s quiet and pretty empty. We walked along the beach, went to the pub and had a nice dinner at the Seaview Hotel before falling into bed to be asleep (in my case) by 10!
It’s a lovely spot and sometimes you don’t have to go to far from home to actually feel that you have been away and had that all important change of scene. We awoke yesterday morning feeling refreshed and rejuvenated and after another walk went home to tackle the woodpile and stock up for next winter.
For us, living as we do on an island, cost and effort are always the factors that skew our travel decisions and so staying put ticks all the boxes (except perhaps the weather one). I can recommend it highly and we’re talking about staycationing again soon……can’t be soon enough if you ask me!
