No I haven’t drowned in the biblical rain. Nor have I been struck by the very scary lightning…..I have just been inordinately busy that’s all! What with a play about to happen in a week and a half’s time, more magazine deadlines than you can shake a stick at, 60 jars of chutney to make for an order and then work, kids oh yes and just life in general – you will forgive my absence I’m sure.
We had the kids last weekend for a sleepover which was brilliant and the first time we’d seen them properly in ages and as we do we visited their favourite beach spot for some shell collecting and a breath of fresh air.
As it was a touch windy there weren’t many people about but we had such a nice time
But of course, the weather has taken a turn for the peculiar since last weekend and we have had no ends of storms. The garden is loving it. Me not so much. In any case TG and I decided that after a Friday night with friends and miles too much wine, a walk yesterday was just what the doctor ordered and so we found ourselves at Steephill Cove at the bottom of the Island.
It’s a great little place and if you didn’t know it was there you wouldn’t find it as there is no access by car – only by foot.
But just as we got there the weather started coming in from the sea and so we hotfooted it back to Ventnor for some lunch and a hairy dog for TG. He did say that he felt better afterwards…..
As I write, it’s lashing down again with no sign of it letting up *sigh*. I’ve got a cardi on, the house smells of chutney and I’ve made soup. Must be autumn then!
